Hello bookworms and welcome to my review of Unordinary Volume 1 by Uru-chan! I was sent an ARC copy by HarperCollins Canada in exchange for an honest review. This book comes out on November 7th! content warnings
Violence, bullying Unordinary follows John, an ordinary teen who is just trying to get through high school in a world full of superpowered people. The only way he’s been able to survive is by staying close to one of the school’s most powerful student, Seraphina. But as other students start to investigate John’s past he’s quickly pulled into a world of turf wars, betrayals, and deadly conspiracies.
I love graphic novels and superpowers so I was excited to dive into the first volume of Unordinary. From the beginning, we're introduced to a wide variety of characters and their different powers. Because there were so many, it took a little while to remember each character and their relationships with each other. But the powers were one of the elements that intrigued me the most. I enjoyed the world building and learning more about John's past. We also got to see more of Seraphina's personality and how the two became friends in the first place. The illustration style was engaging and made it a fast read. That's all for my review of Unordinary Volume 1 by Uru-chan! I hope you enjoyed it! If you could have any superpower, what would you choose? Let me know in the comments below!
