Death of a parent (mentioned, past), homophobia (mentioned), slut shaming Both Sharlot and George’s parents want the best for them, and they think that the teens need to find the right match. So they both unwittingly pretend to be their children online and set up a date. After her mother whisked her away to Indonesia, this is the last thing Sharlot is expecting, and George isn’t too thrilled to hear about what his father has done either. Except when the two meet, they find out they may have more in common than they thought.
I had heard great things about this author’s adult books so I was excited to try this one out! Unfortunately I found the beginning very abrupt and awkward which made it hard to get into the story at first. From there the plot did get a bit better but I wish that we could have had more character development. The concept of the plot was intriguing but could have used more fine tuning to make it more believable and balanced. What I really enjoyed about this book was the setting and learning more about Indonesian culture. The descriptions of the food were also great. I gave this book 2.5/5 Stars ⭐️⭐️✨. That's a wrap on my review of Well, That Was Unexpected by Jesse Q. Sutanto! I hope you enjoyed it! What was the last book you read, and what did you rate it? Let me know in the comments below!
