Hi bookworms! Today I'm coming to you with a review of One True Loves by Elise Bryant. Thank you to HarperCollins Canada for sending me an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review. This book is currently available in stores. Content warnings
Panic attacks, anxiety Lenore loves everything involving art, but is struggling with what she should major in once she goes to NYU. Now her family has given her till the end of their luxury cruise vacation to pick something and stay with it. Her friend Tessa is sure she'll find a fairytale romance on her vacation, but Lenore isn't too sure until she meets Alex Lee whose parents become fast friends with her family. Now Lenore is stuck with Alex and his family for the rest of the trip all while she's struggling to figure out what her dream career will be.
When I first read the synopsis of this book it sounded like a cute and light hearted read and I was excited to read about the travel element. Unfortunately we didn't focus much on travelling and Lenore didn't get to the cruise ship until almost halfway through the book. I would've liked to see more of a focus on the sight seeing elements of the plot. In terms of characters, my favourite one would have to be Etta, Lenore's younger sister. She was very sweet and always had a fun fact or joke. I enjoyed seeing Lenore grow throughout the course of the book. Her struggle to chose what she wanted to do in school was very relatable. The romance was sweet but felt rushed at some parts, but overall I thought Alex and Lenore were cute together. In the end this was a cute and easy read. I gave it 3/5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️. That's a wrap on my review of One True Loves by Elise Bryant. I hope you enjoyed it! Where would you like to travel in the future? Let me know in the comments below.

Happy Wednesday bookworms! Today I'm excited to be reviewing The Bone Spindle by Leslie Vedder! Big thank you to Penguin Teen Canada for sending me an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review. This book is currently available in stores. Content warnings
Toxic relationship, blood, violence, drowning When Fi, a book loving treasure hunter teams up with Shane, a stubborn warrior, the two have no idea what's in store when Fi accidentally pricks her finger on a bone spindle. Now Fi is being followed by the spirit of Briar Rose, the prince of Andar who has been asleep for a century. Together Fi and Shane must face dark magic and travel the kingdom in order to break the curse and finally wake up the kingdom of Andar from its slumber.
This was a fun read! I really liked the unique take on the classic Sleeping Beauty story. The magic system of Andar was interesting to learn about and the different witches each had their own unique powers. The overall premise made for an exciting beginning and I enjoyed following Fi and Shane on their adventure. I definitely got some Indiana Jones vibes from Fi which I loved. I found that in the middle of the book I would have loved to have seen some more suspense like in the beginning and end. I think it would have helped propel the story along. Briar was one of my favourite characters, seeing his insight added an additional element to the plot, connecting the past and present. I really liked the flip on the idea of "boy saves girl" into "girl saves boy" it felt very refreshing to read. Unfortunately, some of the other characters like Shane, and at times Fi, annoyed me with their decisions and attitude. But for the most part I liked their input to the story. In terms of the romance I found Briar and Fi to be very cute together but found Shane and Red to be very rushed, it felt very sudden and didn't make much sense why they fell so quickly. I'm excited to see how the characters and their relationships develop as the series progresses. I didn't see many plot twists coming aside from the very end. Speaking of the ending, we've left our heroes in a very interesting position. Overall a unique and intriguing take on Sleeping Beauty. I'm excited to continue with the series! I gave this book 4/5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. That's all for my review of The Bone Spindle by Leslie Vedder! I hope you enjoyed it! What classic fairytale would you like to be a character in?
