Happy Wednesday bookworms! Today I'm reviewing Daughter of Sparta by Claire M. Andrews! I'm super excited to talk to you all about this book! Let's dive in! Content warnings
Violence, death of a parent, misogyny Daphne has spent her life training to be a warrior and wishing to be accepted by her fellow Spartans. However her plans are upended when the goddess Artemis forces her to go on a quest in order to save her brother's life. Now she must find the nine mysterious items stolen from Mount Olympus. Without them the gods' powers fill fade away and the world will go into chaos. Guided by the god Apollo, Daphne faces Sphinxes, the Minotaur and more while meeting mythical legends like Theseus and Hippolyta.
I had so much fun reading this book! I was stuck between wanting to know what was happening and never wanting it to end. I really enjoyed all of the characters, especially Daphne! She was perfect for this empowering and feminist take on mythology. The writing style made for a fast paced and entertaining read. I especially liked the descriptions of the action scenes because they were very detailed and I could picture exactly what was happening. Since I absolutely love Greek mythology, I was very excited to see how many different myths were incorporated into the story. The romance was also very cute and worked very well with the plot. My only critique is that I wish we got to know some of the side characters a little better so that I could connect with them more. Another thing I enjoyed was the humour! I loved having a tense scene but also being able to laugh at the characters and their sarcasm. Overall I had a fantastic time reading this book and will be recommending it to everyone! I can't wait for the next book Blood of Troy to come out next year! This book is perfect for all lovers of Greek mythology! I gave this book 4.5/5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨. That's a wrap on my review of Daughter of Sparta by Claire M. Andrews! I hope you enjoyed it! Recommend a book you really enjoyed in the comments below!
