It's Saturday bookworms! Today I'm reviewing Capsule by Mel Torrefranca! Thank you to Lost Island Press for sending me an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review! This book comes out today. Let's dive in!
When Peter Moon and Kat Pike go missing on the same night, it's up to Jackie Mendoza to save them. Three days after Kat and Peter go missing, a mysterious app downloads itself onto Jackie's phone and she's entered into a game interlaced with reality. A game that may erase Peter and Kat forever, that is unless Jackie can win the most ruthless game she's ever played. I was very intrigued by the premise of this book. I love video games and virtual reality so I thought this would be right up my alley. Unfortunately I found that the way the sci-fi element was explained to be very confusing. I had originally thought of Capsule as being more of a thriller book but it turned out to have more of a scavenger hunt type plot. In terms of characters, I wanted to like them but found them to be exhausting in that they took a long time to develop, while at other points they would do something completely out of character but then act as if it wasn't a big deal. What I enjoyed most was the underlying plot of learning about their memories. The ending was open ended but fit the tone of the story well. Overall this book just wasn't for me. I gave it 2.5/5 Stars ⭐️⭐️✨. That's a wrap on my review of Capsule! I hope you enjoyed it! If you could go back in time where would you go? Let me know in the comments below!
