Hello and happy Friday bookworms! Today I'm coming to you with a blog tour post for Forget This Ever Happened by Cassandra Rose Clarke! A big thank you to TBR and Beyond Tours as well as Cassandra Rose Clarke for choosing me to be part of this tour! If you'd like to follow the rest of the tour stops here is the schedule! There is also a US giveaway for this book being held here! Which ends on October 12th, so make sure to check it out! As part of this tour I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Synopsis Sometimes there’s a town called Indianola. And sometimes there isn’t. Summer, 1993. Claire has been dumped in rural Indianola, Texas, to spend her whole vacation taking care of mean, sickly Grammy. There’s nothing too remarkable about Indianola: it’s run-down, shabby, and stifling hot, a pin-dot on the Gulf Coast. Well, there is one remarkable thing, she discovers. Something otherworldly. But if you leave Indianola, you forget about it... and if you stay, you have to live with it every day. Because there’s a confluence of energies at Indianola, a fissure in time and space, a gap in reality. Nothing is as it seems. And unless Claire can figure out this town–the talkative lizards under the pecan trees; the honey-sweet but terrifying girl next door; the cute daughter of a powerful family, who would answer Claire’s questions if she had any answers; the pervasive sense of history coming unspooled, like a video tape–she might never leave. Featuring a mind bending plot, heartfelt queer romance, brilliant writing, and intricate world building, Forget This Ever Happened is a lush and thrilling genre-bender perfect for the Black Mirror generation. Release Date: October 6, 2020 Page Count: 336 pages My Review I have to say that this book blew me away with how much I enjoyed it! There was never a dull moment in the plot, keeping you on your toes the entire time. Once I thought I knew what was going to happen, it changed again leaving me surprised and intrigued. At many points I had to force myself to put it down because I work to do, but I just had to know what would happen! I really appreciated the writing style, which I think contributed to the binge quality of this book, We follow both Claire and Julie's perspective which I thought added more depth to the story. The overall vibe of this book is so chilling and creepy right from the first chapter. But what I also liked was that we could go from a very creepy scene, into a heartwarming one full of cute romance! If I had to pick, Julie was probably my favourite main character in this novel. Something about her personality just clicked with me and I found her to be really loveable. While going through the crazy events in this book, she still kept a clever head, even when she was crushing hard on Claire. Speaking of, I really loved the romance in this book. The main characters were both very cute and I spent a lot of the book just wishing for them to be together. Some moments felt a little bit rushed and I would have liked for the book to be a bit longer so that we could enjoy and get to know the characters more. One thing that I think was one of the biggest reasons why I enjoyed the book was the creative and unique aspect of the story. I cannot think of another book I could compare this to and I find that amazing! It bends so many genres and reaches so many topics that it feels to be in a category of its own. I recommend this book to anyone looking for an incredibly unique book with lots of plot twists, along with a cute romance! I gave this book 4/5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐. Mood Board I had so much fun creating this mood board! I went with a theme of pink, light beige and dark blue/purple. Forget This Ever Happened has so many interesting plot points, and I tried to capture all different aspects of it. Top 5 Reasons to Read Forget This Ever Happened As you can tell from my review, I really do recommend reading this book! But here are my top 5 reasons why you definitely need to add this book to your tbr! Author Information

Hi bookworms! Today I have a very exciting review to share with you all! But first I would like to thank Penguin Teen Canada for giving me an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Make sure to check out The Magic Fish by Trung Le Nguyen when it comes out on October 13th! The Magic Fish is a graphic novel all about family and storytelling. We follow Tiến, a boy who loves fairytales and stories and uses them to communicate with his immigrant parents. As his mother and father struggle with English, Tiến struggles to tell them how he feels. But how can he when there isn't even a word in Vietnamese to explain that he's gay? This was an absolute pleasure to read. The Magic Fish tells such a heartfelt tale of love, family and fairytales. I loved our main character Tiến and his devotion to books and written word. He was incredibly relatable with a unique sparkle of a personality. His friends and family were also amazing to see and read about. The formatting of this book is also something I thoroughly enjoyed. The photo below is of the first page of the book. The artwork is incredible! It is so detailed and intricate. I would love to have an art print of any of the scenes! I wanted to show you the first page in order for you to get a glimpse of the artwork but also to talk a little about the formatting I mentioned. The book has a colour scheme of three colours, pinkish red, golden yellow, and a deep indigo purple. The way the graphic novel is told is also through the colour scheme. When the scenes are pinkish red they are about the present with Tiến. When they are golden yellow they are of his parents’ past and their story of immigration. And finally the indigo purple is of the fairytales that Tiến reads to his parents. The artist limited the scenes to varying shades of these colours and it brought out the true beauty in the drawings. I was immediately sucked into this immersive story as soon as I read the first page. The entire book was beautiful, that is the word I would use to describe it best. I cannot begin to talk about how much I loved the art style, but the story itself was very touching to read. Seeing Tiến struggle against hardships like his teachers’ homophobia but also being able to enjoy himself at a school dance, showed his strong character. At many points I wanted to give him a hug, this book definitely brings out a lot of emotions. I may have teared up a bit when I read the ending. This book has definitely reignited my love of graphic novels and even fairytales! I’ve always been interested in how fairytales change depending on culture and I found it captivating as I saw them played out in front of me. It almost felt like a collection of mini stories throughout the bigger graphic novel which I enjoyed immensely. I left this book feeling very happy and content. Which I think so many of us need right now! With that said I have to tell you that this has become one of my favourite graphic novels of all time. Between the artwork, heartfelt story of family, and fantastic fairytales, this is a book you cannot miss! I gave this book 5/5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. I hope you enjoyed my review of The Magic Fish by Trung Le Nguyen! I had so much fun reading and reviewing this book. I recommend this to everyone! What’s one of your favourite graphic novels?
