Hello and happy Friday bookworms! Today I'm coming to you with a blog tour post for Forget This Ever Happened by Cassandra Rose Clarke! A big thank you to TBR and Beyond Tours as well as Cassandra Rose Clarke for choosing me to be part of this tour! If you'd like to follow the rest of the tour stops here is the schedule! There is also a US giveaway for this book being held here! Which ends on October 12th, so make sure to check it out! As part of this tour I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Synopsis Sometimes there’s a town called Indianola. And sometimes there isn’t. Summer, 1993. Claire has been dumped in rural Indianola, Texas, to spend her whole vacation taking care of mean, sickly Grammy. There’s nothing too remarkable about Indianola: it’s run-down, shabby, and stifling hot, a pin-dot on the Gulf Coast. Well, there is one remarkable thing, she discovers. Something otherworldly. But if you leave Indianola, you forget about it... and if you stay, you have to live with it every day. Because there’s a confluence of energies at Indianola, a fissure in time and space, a gap in reality. Nothing is as it seems. And unless Claire can figure out this town–the talkative lizards under the pecan trees; the honey-sweet but terrifying girl next door; the cute daughter of a powerful family, who would answer Claire’s questions if she had any answers; the pervasive sense of history coming unspooled, like a video tape–she might never leave. Featuring a mind bending plot, heartfelt queer romance, brilliant writing, and intricate world building, Forget This Ever Happened is a lush and thrilling genre-bender perfect for the Black Mirror generation. Release Date: October 6, 2020 Page Count: 336 pages My Review I have to say that this book blew me away with how much I enjoyed it! There was never a dull moment in the plot, keeping you on your toes the entire time. Once I thought I knew what was going to happen, it changed again leaving me surprised and intrigued. At many points I had to force myself to put it down because I work to do, but I just had to know what would happen! I really appreciated the writing style, which I think contributed to the binge quality of this book, We follow both Claire and Julie's perspective which I thought added more depth to the story. The overall vibe of this book is so chilling and creepy right from the first chapter. But what I also liked was that we could go from a very creepy scene, into a heartwarming one full of cute romance! If I had to pick, Julie was probably my favourite main character in this novel. Something about her personality just clicked with me and I found her to be really loveable. While going through the crazy events in this book, she still kept a clever head, even when she was crushing hard on Claire. Speaking of, I really loved the romance in this book. The main characters were both very cute and I spent a lot of the book just wishing for them to be together. Some moments felt a little bit rushed and I would have liked for the book to be a bit longer so that we could enjoy and get to know the characters more. One thing that I think was one of the biggest reasons why I enjoyed the book was the creative and unique aspect of the story. I cannot think of another book I could compare this to and I find that amazing! It bends so many genres and reaches so many topics that it feels to be in a category of its own. I recommend this book to anyone looking for an incredibly unique book with lots of plot twists, along with a cute romance! I gave this book 4/5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐. Mood Board I had so much fun creating this mood board! I went with a theme of pink, light beige and dark blue/purple. Forget This Ever Happened has so many interesting plot points, and I tried to capture all different aspects of it.
