Happy Monday bookworms! Today I'm reviewing Honey and Spice by Bolu Babalola! Thank you to HarperCollins Canada for sending me an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review. This book comes out July 5th! content warnings
Depression, black mailing, sexual harassment Kiki Banjo is a student at Whitewell University where she runs the popular radio show, Brown Sugar, where she gives relationship advice to her fellow students. But things get out of hand when she kisses Malakai Korede, they guy that she just publicly denounced on her show. To save their reputations, Kiki and Malakai start a fake relationship. But as they get to know each other more, will Kiki's feelings become real?
I had a fun time reading this book! As you guys know, fake dating is one of my favourite tropes so I knew I had to read Honey and Spice. Kiki was definitely my favourite character. She is super hardworking, and determined to achieve her goals. She's also a bookworm which I loved. Her radio show was really interesting to learn about, I wish it was real so that I could actually listen to it! The writing style made for a quick and easy read, and kept the plot flowing smoothly. Speaking of the plot, I was directly invested in it the whole time. I just had to know what was going to happen next with Kiki and Malakai. I also enjoyed that romance was not the only focus in this book, but that we also got to see each of the characters grow on their own. The romance felt realistic and I appreciated that they both had to work on aspects of their relationship. Overall it was just so cute! I gave this book 4/5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. That's a wrap on my review of Honey and Spice by Bolu Babalola! I hope you enjoyed it! Look around you, what's the name of the closest book? Let me know in the comments below!

Happy Monday bookworms! Today I'm reviewing The Ex-Husband by Karen Hamilton! Thank you to HarperCollins Canada for sending me an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review. This book is currently available in stores. Content warnings
Murder, stalking, violence, forced confinement, drugging After leaving Sam, her con-artist ex-husband, Charlotte is living an honest life. She thinks she left her old life behind for good until she starts receiving threats and Sam contacts her saying that he has too. To get away from it all, Charlotte takes a job as a personal assistant for an engagement party on a private luxury cruise ship. Except as the days go on, there are increasingly sinister events that make her believe that her stalker is on board. Someone wants revenge, but can Charlotte figure out who it is in time?
I'm a big fan of whodunit mysteries, especially if we have a cast of characters with various motives. I also was intrigued by the setting of this book as I haven't read many books set on a cruise ship. I enjoyed the travel element of The Ex-Husband and found the scenes where they went sight-seeing to be the most interesting. I could picture each of the sites they visited and thought they'd be great travel destinations. At many points I was confused by Charlotte's decisions, which took away from the plot a bit. I couldn't understand her thought process as to why she was constantly putting herself in danger and making rash decisions. Unfortunately, I was able to guess the plot twist at the end about half way through the book so I wasn't very shocked. However, there were some aspects that surprised me that I found interesting. I enjoyed the switch between past and present narratives which revealed bits and pieces about Charlotte and her time with Sam. They helped me get to know Charlotte more. I had high hopes for this book but unfortunately it fell flat. I gave this book 2.5/5 Stars ⭐️⭐️✨. That's all for my review of The Ex-Husband by Karen Hamilton! I hope you enjoyed it!
