Hello bookworms and welcome to my review of The Magician’s Elephant by Kate DiCamillo! Thank you to Penguin Random House for sending me this movie tie in edition in exchange for an honest review! Be sure to check out the Netflix original movie hitting screens on March 17th! The Magician's Elephant is a middle grade novel all about an orphan boy named Peter who goes to a fortuneteller asking two questions, is his sister still alive and where can she find her? The answer he gets is a bit strange, the fortuneteller says that an elephant will lead him there. This sets off a chain of impossible and remarkable events that Peter can’t even imagine. What I loved the most about this book was the various perspectives it explored. We got to learn more about different characters living in the town, and their opinions all about the magical elephant. I especially enjoyed reading about Peter. His determination and kindness made him a loveable character in all aspects and made me root for him throughout the story. I only wish that the book was longer so that I could learn even more about the side characters and have the time to grow a stronger connection to them. The small town feeling and the wintery setting gave the book a cozy vibe, perfect for reading this time of year while there's still snow. The magical elements were very faint and made the story feel more whimsical. Even though it's not explained how the magic in this world works, it was easy to follow and reminds me of the hope and belief in magic that you have when you're younger, it was really refreshing! I am very excited to watch the movie soon and see how the story translates to that new form! All in all, The Magician's Elephant is a heartfelt story full of magic and hope! I gave this book 4/5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. Check out the official trailer for the movie here!
That's a wrap on my review of The Magician's Elephant! I hope you enjoyed it. If you could have any book adapted into a tv show or movie, which would you choose? Let me know in the comments below!

Hi bookworms and welcome to my review of Angelika Frankenstein Makes Her Match by Sally Thorne! I was sent this ARC copy by HarperCollins Canada in exchange for an honest review. This book is currently available in stores. content warnings
Violence, death, mentions of sexual harassment This historical rom-com follows Angelika Frankenstein who has run out of suitors, and as time goes on she worries that she’ll never find her true love. So her and her brother Victor undertake the ultimate challenge, to bring a reassembled man back to life. But to her disappointment, when her handsome creation wakes up he’s plagued by amnesia and is intent on uncovering his true identity. Reluctantly she agrees to help him. Along the way Angelika will learn a lot about herself, and answer the question, can true love be created in the laboratory?
The classic Frankenstein is so intriguing, with its moral and ethical commentary and exciting sci-fi elements. That's why I was excited to read a more romantic take on this well known story. I had a lot of fun reading this! Angelika starts off as a very unlikeable character, but I enjoyed seeing her grow as time went on. I found myself enjoying her character more and more, and her quirks were what made her loveable! The mystery of who Will truly was before he died was an exciting subplot. Seeing Angelika, Will, and Victor uncover bits and pieces of Will's past life really picked up the pace of the story. Overall the romance was fun to read about but I wasn't a huge fan of the love triangle. Will and Angelika's chemistry also felt a bit like it came out of nowhere but looking past that, they were really cute together! The writing flowed nicely and I felt that the beginning of the book was particularly strong. I listened to the audiobook and definitely recommend it, the narrator does a great job of capturing the essence of each character. A cute and romantic retelling of the gothic classic, I gave this book 4/5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. That's all for my review of Angelika Frankenstein Makes Her Match! I hope you enjoyed it.
