We're officially in the new year bookworms! Today I'm excited to be sharing my top 10 reads of 2022! I read exactly 100 books this year but I've narrowed to 10 I enjoyed the most. This list is in no particular order because there was no way I could rank them! (I loved them all for different reasons) Let's get started! 1. A Far Wilder Magic by Allison Saft I thought I'd start this list off with my favourite book I read this year! As you all know I absolutely adored Down Comes the Night by Allison so I wasn't surprised when this book stole my heart. I was so honoured to be part of the street team for this book, I even made a crossword puzzle for it! The main characters Wes and Margaret will always have a special place in my heart. The magic system was so intriguing and the prose was beautiful! Check out my glowing review for more of my thoughts! I cannot wait to read more of Allison's work! 2. If You Could See the Sun by Ann Laing I binged this book in one day! It was seriously addictive. I loved the mix of contemporary and magical realism genre with a bit of mystery. Alice was definitely my favourite character, I admired her strength and determination. The slow burn romance was also super satisfying. I'll definitely be picking up Ann's upcoming books! 3. Book Lovers by Emily Henry I related so much to our main character Nora! The small town setting was really cute, plus the focus on sisterhood and family was a great touch. Something else I loved was that both Nora and Charlie work in the publishing industry! 4. The Love Match by Priyanka Taslim This book was so light hearted! My favourite aspect was the focus on family and friend relationships as well as romantic ones. The Love Match features one of my favourite tropes, fake dating! It also had a love triangle that I thought was really well done. I could have seen Zahra with either of the love interests until the end. It reminded me of a classic rom com but with a few fun twists! The writing style was also addictive and made for a fast read. Check out my review for more of my thoughts! 5. A Magic Steeped in Poison by Judy I. Lin First off, the atmosphere of this book was amazing! It had a rich history and mythology with expansive world building. I loved the tea magic system, it felt really unique. The tournament was exciting to read about and the characters were intriguing. I highly recommend the audiobook! 6. Bleeding Spero by IQ Malcolm I was honoured to be part of the beta reading team for this book! It was so much fun to revisit Clover and Unai. This sequel expanded on the world building, exciting action filled plot, and had some intriguing new characters. I highly recommend this series to anyone looking for their next sci-fi read! 7. Beauty and the Besharam by Lillie Vale Another really cute read! This book features another one of my favourite tropes, academic rivals to lovers! (Which I thought was done really well) Kavya was a strong and relatable character, plus she works as a children's party princess which was so cool to read about. Not to mention she's also a fellow bookworm! 8. The Bone Spindle by Leslie Vedder The Bone Spindle was a really unique take on the classic Sleeping Beauty fairytale. Action and adventure followed Fi and Shane at every turn. I really liked the flip on the idea of "boy saves girl" into "girl saves boy" it felt very refreshing to read. I'm excited to see how the characters and their relationships develop as the series progresses! 9. The Witch's Hand by Nathan Page & Drew Shannon One of my favourite graphic novels I read this year! The art style is beautiful and really matches the tone of the plot. The overall vibe of the book was mysterious but also heart warming which I loved. We also can't forget about the found family trope! 10. Violet Made of Thorns by Gina Chen I couldn't get enough of the political court drama in this book! I also found that the magical elements were woven in seamlessly. Each chapter had something new and interesting and it kept me reading constantly. I also loved Violet's strength, determination, and backstory. We got to see her develop throughout the book and grow out of her comfort zone. The ending left me wanting more and I'm excited to read the sequel when it comes out! That's a wrap on my top 10 reads from this year! Thank you for reading! I hope you enjoyed it! I 100% recommend these books to everyone. Have you read any of these books? Also what are some of your favourite books you read this year? Let me know in the comments below!
