Hello bookworms! March was definitely a crazy month for all of us, but I still was able to get some reading in and those books are what we are talking about today. In total I read 8 books in the month of March. In this wrap up I'll be providing a few of my thoughts on each book and a quote if any stood out to me while reading. I will also be sharing my star rating out of 5. (Disclaimer: If any of these books are sequels there is a possibility for spoilers!) I enjoyed this month's books very much and they were all 4 or 5 stars. Now let's start our wrap up! Book 1: Crown of Feathers by Nicki Pau Preto "War has a way of making regular people into heroes." 4/5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐ When I was first reading this book I was intrigued by the plot. The concept of phoenix riders was something I had never read about before and it drew me into picking this book up. It' s multi perspective and I found that this contributed to the story nicely. When I got to the middle of this book however I began to get bored and didn't feel compelled to read it at times. I pushed through however, and the excitement returned closer to the end of the book. That said, the detailed history of this world was incredible with little pages from 'history books' and letters scattered throughout. I enjoyed the characters and would have to say Sev is my favourite. I enjoyed his development as a character and his growing relationships with those around him. In total it was a fun read and I am currently reading the second book in the series, Heart of Flames. Book 2: Heartless by Marissa Meyer "But hoping" he said, "is how the impossible can be possible after all." "Sometimes your heart is the only thing worth listening to." 5/5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Wow is all I could say after finishing this book. Heartless is the first Marissa Meyer book I have read and I have to say I am hooked. The world of Wonderland had all the nostalgia and fantastical feelings from the original story and Disney movies. I loved the baking element and found myself wanting to make every desert Cath created. The romance was so adorable and heart warming and Jest is now for sure one of my biggest fictional crushes. I fell in love with all of the characters and there was never a dull moment reading it. At the end of this book I had a developed a strong emotional attachment to the story and felt kind of lost once I had finished it. Needless to say it is now a top favourite of mine and I'd recommend it to everyone. Book 3: My Hero Academia Volume 11 by Kohei Horikoshi 5/5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The My Hero Academia series is a favourite manga series of mine. The premise is that a majority of the population have developed "quirks" or superhero abilities. With this development came those who used these gifts for bad and those who wish to stop them. This volume started a turning point in which the top hero and villain passed the torch to their younger protegees. Midoriya's determination was great to see and I loved the teamwork displayed from all of the students in their attempt to get Bakugo back. Overall it was a great volume and contributed well to the series. Book 4: The Mystery of the Blue Train by Agatha Christie “You're like me, you can't bear to let go. But I've learnt, and you've got to learn, that there are times when it's the only way.” 4/5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐ This book is the continuation of my quest to read all of Agatha Christie's Hercule Poirot novels. This addition was well done, the mystery was fun and entertaining. Hercule was witty as ever. It is multi perspective and that aspect was critical to the story. I also found that this allowed the characters to develop more and was able to give the reader a chance to form a deeper connection with them. With the romance, jewel thieves and American billionaires. What's not to love? Book 5: My Hero Academia Volume 12 by Kohei Horikoshi 5/5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Another My Hero Academia Volume! Once again was another thrilling installment. Teamwork was also a key component of this volume, which was heartwarming to see. I really enjoyed the segment when each student was working to improve their quirks. It was interesting to see how the community is coping from the loss of All Might and the integral role he played. I can sense Uraraka developing a crush on Midoriya and I think it is the cutest thing. Book 6: My Hero Academia Volume 13 by Kohei Horikoshi 5/5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ So you've probably seen a pattern by now... I got into a stage where I wanted something quick and fun to read, so what better than My Hero Academia? This volume started the story of the test provincial licensing exam. The test was fun to read and entertaining to see the quirks of the students from other schools. The tests also prioritized how heroes should treat civilians, which is something that hasn't been looked at very often in the series. For the most part it is centered around the use of quirks for fighting and optimising attack and defence, so it was refreshing to see a new angle of heroism. Book 7: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (Illustrated Edition) by Newt Scamander (J.K Rowling) 🎧 5/5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This is my third time reading Fantastic Beasts and it was just as great as the first time. I listened to the audiobook which was narrated by Eddie Redmayne, and let me tell you this audiobook is amazing. Having it read by Newt himself is awesome and added to the experience. The illustrations were intricate and spot on with the descriptions in the text. Needless to say it was a 5/5 again and this is a book that I will always reread time and time again. Book 8: My Hero Academia Volume 14 by Kohei Horikoshi 5/5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Our final book of March is the fourteenth volume of My Hero Academia. Once again a great volume and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I absolutely loved the growing friendship between Bakugo and Midoriya, and it was one of my favourite aspects of this volume. We are also introduced to a new leader of underground crime (Seen on the cover) who was an interesting addition to the plot. I am looking forward to see how he contributes to the villains and what his plans are. Well that's all the books I read in March, what did you guys read this month? Did any of them become favourites? What are your plans for reading in April? I hope you guys have an awesome day!

Hello bookworms! My name is Paige and reading is my passion. Since I have been in the online reading community for so long I decided that I wanted to participate myself with a blog. And I thought that there was no better way to start everything off than with the Book Blog Newbie Tag. Without further ado let's get on with the questions! 1. Why did you start this blog? I wanted to start this blog as a way to connect with other fellow readers who share the same interests as I do. With this blog I can also share my reading experiences with others in different ways. I am super excited and can't wait for what the future holds! 2. What are some fun and unique things you can bring to book blogging? I definitely want to do tags as well as recently read posts and recommendation posts. These are some of my favourite things about book blogging and what intrigued me to start my own. I would also love to talk to others and have discussions about the books we read since I believe that everyone interprets a book differently. 3. What are you most excited for about this new blog? I am most excited to share my love of reading with others and to document my reading journey. I also hope by writing this blog it will motivate me to read even more! 4. Why do you love reading? I love reading because it gives me a way to live through so many situations and allows me to experience so much. I also really enjoy learning about brand new worlds in fantasy and incredible high tech in sci-fi. We can learn so much about others through reading, and I feel that in it I make so many friends. I share the characters' happiness, pain and excitement and I really feel connected to them. 5. What book or series got you into reading? I'd have to say that it had to have been the Anne of Green Gables series as well as Little House on the Prairie. I read these series first when I was younger, the way the authors were able to convey such emotion and were so descriptive was very captivating. Ever since then I have been an avid reader and try to read as much as I can. 6. What questions would you ask your favourite authors? Rick Riordan: Would you ever write a book series from the point of view of the original characters' children? For example Percy and Annabeth's children? Kerri Maniscalco: Do you always think that you will write historical fiction or would you delve into other genres? Maureen Johnson: Will you write more mystery books now that the Truly Devious series is finished? 7. What challenges do you think starting a blog will be the hardest to overcome? I think that building connections with other book bloggers will be the hardest. That and I think maintaining a steady posting schedule as things get busier. 8. When did you start reading? When I was very young, maybe 4 or 5. 9. Where do you read? On the couch and in bed. 10. What kind of books do you read? Young adult, mostly mystery, sci-fi, fantasy, urban fantasy, graphic novels, and manga. That's all of the questions in this tag! I hope you liked it and learned a little bit more about me and my blog. If you're new to the book blog community as well, feel free to participate in the tag and leave your blog down below! |
