Happy Sunday bookworms! Today I'm sharing 11 of my most anticipated releases of June! This month has so many amazing books coming out, it was hard narrowing down my list! From fantasy to contemporary to romance we've got a variety of genres. Plus this month has some stunning covers! Love Letters for Joy by Melissa See June 6th We're starting things off with a contemporary romance that sounds perfect for the summer! As she gets closer to graduation, Joy is determined to be her school's first disabled valedictorian, all she has to do is beat Nathan, her academic rival. But with everyone around her focused on romance and one of her best friends possibly falling for her, Joy is worried that she's missing out on that classic high school romance. She is asexual but that doesn't mean she can't have her first love. So she decides to write to her school's anonymous love letter writer to help sort out her feelings. But soon she finds herself falling for the person behind the letters, and it turns out to be someone she never would have expected. This sounds so cute! I haven't read many books with a secret letter/column writer in a while so I'm excited to dive into this one! The Grimoire of Grave Fates created by Hanna Alkaf & Margaret Owen June 6th I'm a fan of murder mystery books so I ran to add this book to my tbr, also can we take a moment to appreciate this stunning cover? The Grimoire of Grave Fates is a short story collection that takes place in a magic school. After the school's least favourite professor is found murdered, everyone is a suspect. Each of the 18 short stories follows the perspective of a different student who is trying to solve the case. This concept is very different than any other murder mystery book I've read before. I'm excited to see how each of the perspectives fit together into the full story of who really murdered the professor. The Dos and Donuts of Love by Adiba Jaigirdar June 6th You guys know I love The Great British Bake Off and basically any baking competition show. Plus baking in books is so much fun so I knew The Dos and Donuts of Love would be right up my alley. This book follows Shireen who is still recovering from her breakup with her ex-girlfriend when she learns that she's been selected to compete in the Junior Irish Baking Show. This is a dream come true for Shireen, not only because of the prize money but she'll also be able to draw attention to her parent's donut shop. But things get complicated when her ex is also competing and Shireen is starting to grow closer to another contestant named Niamh. I am so ready for all the baking puns and competitive vibes in this book! Something More by Jackie Khalilieh June 6th I first heard about Something More when the cover was revealed and I've been dying to read it ever since! I was so excited to meet Jackie in person at the 2023 Penguin Teen Social where I also was given a copy of this book. Something More follows Jessie, a Palestinian-Canadian teen who has been diagnosed as autistic right before she starts high school. She's determined to keep her diagnosis a secret and in hopes of making a fresh start she decides to make a list of goals to accomplish in her first year at her new school. But things don't go as planned when two very different boys steal her heart. This sounds adorable in all of the best ways, I can't wait to learn more about Jessie and see which boy I end up rooting for! A Spark in the Cinders by Jenny Elder Moke June 6th Let's switch it up to fantasy! I love a good retelling so I had to add this to my tbr. A Spark in the Cinders takes place after a story like Cinderella, when her peasant stepsister marries the prince, Aralyn is left among the commoners in the kingdom of Novador where disease and famine are common. But legend has it that if the Protector's Blade is recovered, the kingdom will be saved. With information from her own fairy godmother, Aralyn teams up with Vee, a lady knight, to find the pieces of the artifact and bring it home. I can't wait to see how the magic and royal setting play into this book! Plus who doesn't love a good medieval story with knights and princesses? The Kingdom Over the Sea by Zohra Nabi June 6th Next up, The Kingdom Over the Sea follows 12 year old Yara, who after the passing of her mother, she finds a strange letter which leads her on a trip far away from home to Zehaira. This world was once filled with magic, but it has now been outlawed. With the Sultan’s alchemists plotting something sinister, Yara must use all of her courage to find out the truth about not only her mother’s past but her own identity. I’m excited to see how Yara will uncover more about her mother’s past. Plus magic carpets, alchemists, and jinn? This book sounds like it’ll be full of adventure I can’t wait to read it! Kismat Connection by Ananya Devarajan June 13th Another book that's been on my tbr forever! As her senior year approaches, Madhuri is convinced that she's doomed to have a happily ever after with her first boyfriend according to her family's curse. Determined to show the universe that she has power over her own destiny she enlists the help of her childhood best friend Arjun to have a fake relationship. But Madhuri wasn't counting on falling for him and for Arjun having feelings for her too. Now Madhuri will have to decide if going against her destiny is worth breaking Arjun's heart and maybe her own too. I can't wait to see what Madhuri decides, I have a feeling that this will be a cute read, also this cover is stunning! Borrow My Heart by Kasie West June 13th Kasie West is known for her cute rom-coms and she's back with another one! After hearing a guy get teased by his friends for being stood up by a catfish, Wren jumps in and pretends to be his online crush. Now the two are sort of fake dating, but will their relationship survive when he finds out she's not who he thinks she is? I've also heard that the love interest in this book works at an animal shelter! Say no more, I'm sold! Something Close to Magic by Emma Mills June 13th Something Close to Magic is about Aurelie, a baker's apprentice who has the rare magical ability of Seeking. One day at the shop she's given a set of Seeking stones by a bounty hunter named Iliana who asks for her help saving a prince from the Underwood. As they navigate the woods, Aurelie starts to fall for the prince and can't imagine going back to her steady yet boring job at the bakery. But can she choose between her apprenticeship and her new romance? I can't wait to see what this adventure has in store! Garden of the Cursed by Katy Rose Pool June 20th After fleeing noble society, Marlow has made a name for herself as the best curse breaker in the city. But even with each case she solves, she still is haunted by the disappearance of her mother. When her old friend Adrius comes back into her life asking her to help break a life-threatening curse, she wants nothing to do with him. Especially since he rejected her long ago. But with a new lead on her mother's case she agrees to help Adrius and fake a relationship with him to enter back into noble society. With deadly secrets, lies, and dangerous enemies, this book sounds like a thrilling read! Plus One by Kelsey Rodkey June 27th Lahey is known for being a matchmaker. And she's never had a boyfriend, which hasn't been a problem except now her cousin's sweet sixteen party is coming up and she needs a date for the party as part of a revenge plan. Soon Lahey is juggling 6 different suitors over a week in order to find one and act like who they're looking for. That wouldn't be too hard if it wasn't for her older sister's friend Adler who is determined to watch the drama unfold and distract her from her goal. But can this matchmaker really find her own match? This sounds like a fun contemporary to kick off summer with! Those are my anticipated releases for June 2023 bookworms! I can't wait to dive into them! What June releases are on your radar? Are any of these books on your tbr? Let me know in the comments below!

It’s June bookworms! And that means it’s time for my May reading wrap up. Last month I read a total of 10 books! Let's chat about them. In this wrap up I'll be providing a few of my thoughts on each book and some quotes if any stood out to me while reading. I will also be sharing my star rating out of 5.
Favourite Book This Month Out of the 10 books I read this month, I have to say my favourite read was Seven Faceless Saints by M.K. Lobb! I loved every aspect of this book, especially the main characters Roz and Damian. The magic system was intriguing and the world-building was so immersive! I definitely recommend picking it up. I need the sequel immediately 😭.
That's all for my May reading wrap up! I hope you enjoyed it! How many books did you read this month? Which one was your favourite? Let me know in the comments below! |
