Hello and welcome to another end of year blog post bookworms! Today I'll be sharing with you my top 10 reads of 2021! I read over 100 books this year and it was hard to narrow it down to just 10! This list is from oldest to most recently read, I couldn't rank them because I love them all for so many different reasons! Now let's dive in! 1. I'll Be the One by Lyla Lee This was one of my first reads of 2021! And as I'm sure you've seen, I CANNOT stop talking about this book! I buddy read it with @booksofmagicandmystery and we had a blast discussing it. Skye is one of my favourite main characters I've read about. Everytime I picked up this book I started smiling. It's such a feel good read, while also dealing with important topics. And I haven't even mentioned Henry! Check out my review to hear me gush more about this book! 2. A Good Girl's Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson I had seen this book everywhere and just knew I had to pick it up! It did not disappoint! I related to Pip so much. From her love of true crime, and her dedication to school, I know we'd be fast friends. This story kept me hooked from page one. I also loved the additional notes, maps, text messages etc which made things even more interesting. And I loved how supportive and funny Ravi was! I couldn't put this book down. Read my review for more! 3. Anxious People by Fredrik Backman I was so excited to read this book because I loved A Man Called Ove, Beartown, and Us Against You. Fredrik Backman writes so beautifully and that was definitely shown in this book. What I loved most was the characters and the relationships they had with each other. All of their stories were so interconnected and satisfying. The plot twists kept me on my toes constantly! 4. The Darkness Outside Us by Eliot Schrefer This is one of the two sci-fi books on this list! I'm happy to say that I'm getting more and more into sci-fi as time goes on. I can't wait to read more in 2022! This book is a whirlwind! I read it in one day and it was a fantastic experience. I forget the last time I was so sucked into a book! The setting, technology, characters, and romance were all so fantastic! I can't stop talking about it! Check out my review here! 5. Poisoned by Jennifer Donnelly If you read my top 10 post for 2021, you'll remember another Jennifer Donnelly book! This is a companion book to Stepsister which was a fantastic read as well. We’re talking girls who save themselves, amazing characters, whimsical storybook world, shocking plot twists and adorable romance. A great feminist take on the classic Snow White that has a beautiful writing style and reads like a classic fairytale. 6. Perfect on Paper by Sophie Gonzales I was inspired to read this because of Rose and April. They both said this book was fantastic and they were so RIGHT! I mean the humour, the romance, the characters! This book made me laugh non stop. Darcy is super sarcastic, quick on her feet, and hilarious. It never had a dull moment. I also loved the relationships in this book. Especially between siblings, parents and friends. Since reading it I can't stop recommending it! 7. Not Here to Be Liked by Michelle Quach Going into this book I had high expectations but it surpassed them! I loved the commentary on feminism. I also loved how real and relatable Eliza was. She works tirelessly when it comes to things she cares about. She had a message she wanted to send and while she did what she thought was right, she also had lots of mishaps along the way. She felt authentic and reminded me of myself in many ways. It had beautiful pacing, and kept me engaged the entire time. Read my review for more thoughts! 8. Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir As many of you know, I loved The Martian by this author. This book had a great main character, an engaging plot and exciting science! I loved how science was celebrated and it motivated me a lot (Biology major!). It also was hilarious! I've saved so many great quotes from this book which is a great indication of how much I loved it. 9. The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood The Love Hypothesis was my second adult romance book I've read. This book along with Talk Bookish to Me and The Spanish Love Deception have opened my eyes to how amazing the adult genre can be! This was such a cute read! I loved the plot, the story, and especially the characters! Olive was so relatable! Her dedication to her work and her passion was inspiring. I read it in one day! From now on I'll read anything this author writes! 10. Down Comes the Night by Allison Saft Oh my gosh this book! I honestly believe that this book was written for me. It had so many of my favourite elements in books. A beautiful setting, an exciting and interesting magic system, relatable and lovable characters, an engaging plot, and a beautiful romance. I found myself smiling so much while reading. All in all I wouldn't change a thing about this book. I had an amazing time reading. I also listened to the audiobook which I HIGHLY recommend as the narrator was fantastic. Everyone go read this book! Also check out my review if you'd like to hear me gush about it more! I will read anything Allison Saft writes. I am SO excited for A Far Wilder Magic coming out in 2022! That's a wrap on my top 10 reads of 2021! Since I read so many books this year it was hard to narrow it down! I wanted to mention three books that are runners up. I loved all three of them and recommend them to everyone! Those being Small Favors by Erin A. Craig, Daughter of Sparta by Claire M. Andrews, and Dark and Shallow Lies by Ginny Myers Sain. All of which I have reviews for! Click on the titles above to read them! Thanks again for reading! I hope you enjoyed it! Have you read any of these books? Also what are some of your favourite books you read this year?
