Hello bookworms! Today I'm doing the OMG This Song! Book Tag. Essentially this tag has 9 questions that have prompts for songs as well as books. I've linked the original creator's video here. I've watched lots of Booktube videos about this tag so I thought now would be the time to do it for myself! I'm excited to start so let's get to it! 1. My Jam: A song you MUST listen to every time it comes on, no matter how many times you've listened to it / a book you'll never get sick of Song: I definitely have to go with "Stitches" by Shawn Mendes. The melody of this song and the lyrics always makes me want to sing. It's been 5 years since this song came out (wow makes me feel old) and I still love it just as much as when it came out.
2. Throwback: A song that reminds you of the cringiest time in your life / a book you read that you wouldn't like now Song: For this prompt I thought back to when I was younger (which I consider the cringiest time in my life) and I thought of One Direction. I was never a huge fan of them but I did like their music. The first song of theirs I thought of was I Would, which was a song I listened to a lot at that time.
3. Replay: A recent song you have on replay right now / a recent favourite book Song: 5 Seconds of Summer is my favourite band so since their new album CALM came out I've pretty much been listening to it nonstop. I'd say that my favourite song at the moment in Lonely Heart. (While I'm here... everyone listen to CALM it's awesome!)
4. Gets Me: This song IS ME / this book is me in book form Song: Growing Pains by Alessia Cara is the song I chose for this category. The lyrics "I've always been a go-getter, there's truth in every word I write" totally makes me think of myself in that I try to be positive and truthful in all I do. I also tend to get a bit negative when things go wrong but I remind myself that "I guess the bad can get better, gotta be wrong before it's right". This song reminds me that there's a lot left for me to do and not everything will end up the way I want it to. I need to work with the "growing pains" and work through them to get to where I want to be in life.
5. Wut: A weird song you liked anyways / a unique book that stood out to you for some reason Song: I don't know if you'd classify this song as weird but it's a song you wouldn't usually listen to all the time. This song is I Know You by Lana Del Rey and it's from the Maleficent movie. Something about this song and the sort of creepy undertones is something I love. I really liked it in the movie and I've had it saved on spotify ever since.
6. Let's Go: Your best pump up song / a book that inspires you Song: This was also a difficult prompt but I'm going to go with High Hopes by Panic at the Disco. I really liked this song when it first came out but I think I make have listened to it too much because I'm getting a little sick of it... The rhythm and beat of this song really pumps me up and inspires me. 7. Chill: Your best chill or relaxing song / a book you'd curl up with on a rainy day Song: Florets by Grace VanderWaal is a song I listen to when I'm chilling out and relaxing. The light beat and lyrics are calming to me. Grace's voice is so soothing for some reason and the song itself and its lyrics are breezy and calming.
8. Addicting: A guilty pleasure song / a guilty pleasure or light read Song: So this song is one that I'm kind of ashamed of (lol) since it's such a pop teen lovesick type song. And that song is Hoodie by Hey Violet. I call this a guilty pleasure song because it's not a song I'd typically listen to, and when I do it's mostly when I'm in a nostalgic mood.
9. Nostalgia: A throwback song you look back on fondly / a book you read and loved when you were young Song: A song I distinctly remember when I was in my later years of elementary school is Oh Cecilia by The Vamps. This band is one of the first bands I started listening to and I still love their old songs as well as their newer songs. Oh Cecilia reminds me of summer time, swimming and relaxed times, (it also has Shawn Mendes in it). Whenever I need cheering up this is one of the songs I turn to.
Well that's it folks! I hope you got some music and book recommendations today and maybe found some new favourites. It was a really fun tag to participate in and something that combined my love for music and reading into one. My question for you today is do you listen to music while reading? Why or why not? I hope you guys all have an awesome day and keep reading!
