Happy Saturday bookworms! Since today is officially the first day of October, I’m sharing 12 of my most anticipated releases for this month! Let's dive in! The Second Death of Edie and Violet Bond by Amanda Glaze October 4th Set in 1885, this book follows twin mediums. Violet can open the veil between life and death, while her sister Edie can cross into the spirit world. Now I don't know about you, but I'm already hooked! After the death of their mother, they run away to be part of a travelling Spiritualist show where Violet's act goes horribly wrong and a dangerous spirit is released. I can't wait to see all of the spooky and magical elements this book has in store! Prince of Song and Sea by Linsey Miller October 4th I love The Little Mermaid, so when I heard about this retelling I added it to my tbr right away! In this version, Eric's mother went missing two years ago, just after she told him of a curse placed on him years ago. If he kisses someone other than his true love, he would die. Now Prince Eric is on a mission to kill the sea witch that cursed him, but after a girl with a beautiful voice saves his life, he's torn on what he should do. This sounds like an intriguing read! The Christmas Clash by Suzanne Park October 4th I was a big fan of Suzanne Park's The Perfect Escape, and this Christmas romance sounds right up my alley! This book features two main characters from families that run rival restaurants in the Riverwood Mall food court, but Chloe and Peter have to team up in order to save the mall from being closed down. I love the rivals to lovers trope and this one sounds so fun! Especially since it's set during the holidays! Anne of Greenville by Mariko Tamaki October 4th One of my all time favourite classics is Anne of Green Gables, so when I heard about this modern reimagining, I knew I had to add it to my tbr. This book follows Anne, a queer Japanese-American singer/actor/writer who has just moved to the small town of Greenville. And she's having trouble fitting in, especially after the soccer team boos her disco performance. But things are starting to look up when she meets the girl of her dreams, Gilly, and makes a new BFF Berry. Except these new relationships soon turn into a tricky love triangle. This sounds like a fun read! By the Time You Read This I'll Be Gone by Stephanie Kuehn October 4th This book features a girl who's obsessed with the unsolved murders in her small town. But when her best friend goes missing, things turn personal. And things are looking suspicious when she stumbles upon three students from the elite Broadmoor Academy who seem to know more than they're letting on. Hollow by Shannon Watters, Branden Boyer-White & Berenice Nelle October 4th I love a good graphic novel, and this spooky one sounds like a great read! This book is set in Sleepy Hollow, and follows Izzy who's recently relocated there, where she meets Vicky Van Tassel, and Croc Byun. The trio soon discover a curse set on the Van Tassel family, and now they only have until Halloween night to break it. Also judging by the cover, the art style looks so pretty! Everyone Hates Kelsie Miller by Meredith Ireland October 11th Kelsie and Eric hate each other, these academic rivals have been at odds for a long time. But Kelsie is finally determined to figure out why. But after the two of them finally talk and explain that they each have people that ghosted them that go to the University of Pennsylvania, they decide to do an impromptu road trip. What could go wrong? I Miss You, I Hate This by Sara Saedi October 11th Parisa Naficy and Gabriela Gonzales live very different lives. But even with their differences, they soon grow close and develop a "us versus the world" mentality. But when a global pandemic forces everyone into lockdown, their senior year is looking very different. I've heard this book is formatted using mixed media, like emails and text messages. I love when books do that! If You Could See the Sun by Ann Liang October 11th I was so excited to receive an ARC copy of this book and I loved it! I definitely recommend reading it. It has a fun mix of genres and relatable characters. Plus our main character has the power of invisibility! For more of my thoughts check out this article I wrote all about If You Could See the Sun. The Whispering Dark by Kelly Andrew October 18th I first heard about this book on Twitter, and since then I've been dying to read it! We follow Delaney, who is tired of being seen as fragile because she's Deaf. But she's excited to prove herself when she's accepted into Godbole University, where she gets to train how to go between parallel worlds. Unfortunately things are off to a rocky start, especially when a fellow student turns up dead. Plus did I mention that our other main character Colton, died when he was nine but woke up again seeing Delaney? This sounds so intriguing! The Heartstopper Yearbook by Alice Oseman October 18th As you guys know, I absolutely love everything Heartstopper related! That's why I was so excited to hear about Alice's newest addition to the Heartstopper world! I can't wait to learn more about all of my favourite characters. Drizzle, Dreams, and Lovestruck Things by Maya Prasad October 18th This book follows the Singh sisters, who's family runs the Songbird Inn. We get to explore each of their love stories at the inn after it's been named the most romantic inn in America. This sounds so sweet! These light-hearted fun romances sound like a lot of fun! Eight Nights of Flirting by Hannah Reynolds October 25th The last book I'm featuring today is Eight Nights of Flirting! This Hanukkah, Shira is determined to get a boyfriend, but a wrench is thrown in her plans when she's snowed in with her nemesis/former crush Tyler. While waiting to be rescued, the two of them strike a deal, Tyler will give Shira flirting lessons in exchange for her help with some career connections. I'm a big fan of snowed in stories!
