Happy Saturday bookworms! Welcome to my review of The Reunion by Kit Frick. Thank you to Simon and Schuster for sending me an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review. This book is currently available in stores! Content Warnings
Blackmail, mention of sexual assault, domestic violence, bullying The Reunion follows the Mayweather family, who haven’t had a big family gathering in a long time. Except for this spring break, they’re all together in Cancún to celebrate the engagement of Addison and Mason’s mom. Even Theo is invited, their soon-to-be stepbrother. Add in their cousin Natalia and tensions are rising quickly. After a week of forced family “fun” they soon figure out that everyone has something to hide and secrets are revealed. By the end of the week, one member of the reunion party will be dead, and everyone is a suspect.
I love a good family drama story filled with secrets and betrayal and this book definitely delivered on that! The setting of an all-inclusive resort was fun to read about and put all of the characters out of their element. Speaking of the characters, they were each interesting to read about. Since there were so many it took a little while to remember who everyone was and how they were related but the family tree illustration helped a lot. There were a few characters that I would have liked to learn more about but otherwise, I enjoyed reading all of their perspectives. I really loved the first three quarters of this book but unfortunately, I found the end reveal to be a bit disappointing. There was a lot of mystery and intrigue leading up to the ending but there were a few questions left unanswered and some aspects didn't feel very fleshed out. I wish the ending had been drawn out more so the reveal didn't feel as sudden. That said, I was intrigued the whole time while reading and just had to know what would happen next. I gave this book 3/5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️. That's a wrap for my review of The Reunion by Kit Frick! I hope you enjoyed it. If you could pick any fictional place to visit for vacation, where would you go?
