Hi bookworms! Welcome to my review of Unfortunately Yours by Tessa Bailey. I was sent this ARC copy by HarperCollins Canada in exchange for an honest review. This book is currently available in stores. content warnings
Grief, panic attacks, death Natalie Vos has returned to her childhood home in hopes of receiving her trust fund to finance her new business after losing her job and fiancé. The problem is, the terms of the trust require her to be married before the money is released. In a desperate attempt to get her life back on track, she proposes a fake marriage to August, a vineyard owner who is struggling to keep his late best friend’s dream alive. The two can’t stand each other and this plan will majorly test their resolve, but they’ll also be surprised about the love they might find along the way.
While reading Secretly Yours, the first book in this series, I was interested in finding out more about Natalie and her story. I enjoyed this sequel more because we got to learn about the main characters' personalities. I especially liked seeing Natalie begin to heal from her past challenges when she was younger. Unfortunately Yours also talks about grief and losing someone close to you. The plot was fast paced and made this book a quick read. However, I would have enjoyed learning more about why Natalie and August liked each other in the beginning. As you can see on the cover, August also has an orange cat named Menace who was one of my favourite characters 😂. I gave this book 3.5/5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨. That's a wrap on my review of Unfortunately Yours by Tessa Bailey! I hope you enjoyed it! What would your ideal reading spot look like? Let me know in the comments below!

Happy Thursday bookworms! Welcome to my review of Seven Faceless Saints by M.K. Lobb. Thank you to Little Brown Young Readers and Netgalley for sending me an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review. This book is currently available in stores. content warnings
Violence, murder, death, death of a parent, war, mention of child death, self-harm, and suicidal thoughts After her father is murdered by the military, Rossana is determined to take down the corrupt government from the inside by using her powers as a disciple of Patience. Damian is the youngest captain of Palazzo security. Everyone expects him to be ruthless, but after fighting a never-ending war for three years, he’s left deeply scarred and scared of confronting the girl he left behind. But when a disciple is murdered the childhood friends turned lovers turned enemies must team up to find the killer. With darkness closing in and time running out, will they be able to save the city from an all-powerful evil?
Where to begin with this book? To start, I loved the writing! M.K. Lobb's writing style gave Seven Faceless Saints a dark and gothic atmosphere that perfectly matched the plot. The descriptions of the setting brought me straight into the world of Ombrazia. I could clearly imagine every character and scene which made the book so bingeable! The pacing was also very well executed with a balance between plenty of exciting action scenes and slower character building scenes. The plot was full of twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat, I just had to know what would happen next! I've saved a lot of quotes from this book because of how beautiful they were or how much they spoke to me. The characters! Every character including the side characters felt very realistic. If you're a fan of morally grey characters, this is definitely a book for you! I loved both Roz and Damian so much! I especially enjoyed seeing them grow individually as people but also how they encouraged each other to be the best version of themselves. I loved how strong Roz was and her determination to achieve her goals. Damian is so sweet! I really enjoyed watching him become more confident in himself and The romance was also so well done, especially the pacing, I was rooting for them from the very beginning. While it takes place in a magical world, a great mystery element also gave Seven Faceless Saints even more depth. I was constantly looking for hints and clues as to who committed these murders and how. Speaking of magic, the magic system was really intriguing. I loved learning about each of the saints and the powers their descendants had. The in-depth world-building created a rich history for this world and made it feel as though it was a real place. With that ending, I am dying to read the next book! I can't wait to continue the series! Filled with magic, mystery, and romance, in a beautifully gothic setting, Seven Faceless Saints is a must-read for fans of morally grey characters and exciting plot twists. I gave this book 4.5/5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨. That's a wrap on my review of Seven Faceless Saints by M.K. Lobb! I hope you enjoyed it! Who are your favourite morally grey characters?
