Hi bookworms! Now that September is officially started, I'm sharing some of my most anticipated releases for this month! There are so many exciting books coming out but I've narrowed my list down to 16 books I'm most excited for. Let's get started! Blood of Troy by Claire M. Andrews September 6th We're starting things off with a sequel! I had so much fun reading Daughter of Sparta so I'm anxiously awaiting the sequel, Blood of Troy. I was fortunate enough to win an ARC copy of this book from the author so I'm planning on starting it very soon! Greek mythology is a passion of mine and I'm always up for retellings of the classic myths with some fun twists. Daphne is also such a relatable character 😂. Daughters of the Dawn by Sarena and Sasha Nanua September 6th Another sequel! Sisters of the Snake was a fun read that left me on a cliffhanger! That's why I need Daughters of the Dawn ASAP! The magic system and writing style made for a binge-worthy experience. Plus, I love supporting Canadian authors! You can check out my review of Sisters of the Snake here! Our Shadows Have Claws edited by Yamile Sales Méndez and Amparo Ortiz September 6th Next up we have the first of our short story anthologies! There's actually three on this list which I was super excited and surprised to notice. There's just so many exciting anthologies coming out this month! Look at this cover, it's so exciting! It caught my eye right away. I can't wait to learn more about latin mythology and monsters and get to know some new to me authors! Self-Made Boys by Anna-Marie McLemore September 6th The Great Gatsby is one of my favourite classic books that I read in school so I'm always up to read a retelling of it! This book features Nicolás Caraveo, a transgender boy from Minnesota who rents a small house from his cousin Daisy, who has chosen to erase all signs of her Latina heritage. There he meets Jay Gatsby, who seems determined to impress his cousin by throwing lavish parties. At one of these parties he learns that Jay is also transgender, and as the two get closer, things grow more complicated. This sounds like an awesome twist to a well known classic! The Gathering Dark edited by Tori Bovalino September 6th I originally heard of this anthology when one of my all time favourite authors Allison Saft announced that she had a short story in it. Since then I've become even more excited for it, all of the stories sound super creepy and perfect for spooky season! Funeral Girl by Emma K. Ohland September 6th Another spooky sounding read? I'm sensing a pattern in my reading mood for this month 😂 The premise of this book sounds super intriguing to me. We follow Georgia, a girl who can summon ghosts, who works at the funeral home her parents' run. To cope with her deep anxiety about death she decides to help fulfill the last wishes of some ghosts. Things are running smoothly until the ghost of Milo, a classmate of hers, shows up and has some unfinished business he wants her to help him with. Doesn't that sound cool! Aces Wild by Amanda DeWitt September 13th I'm guilty, I love a good heist book (the puns are on fire today 😂). In this book we follow Jack, the son of a Las Vegas casino mogul who decides to recruit some of his closest friends (members of his asexual support group) to help him infiltrate a high-stakes gambling club and figure out some family secrets along the way. I mean aren't you already hooked? I'm looking forward to some action packed scenes and team meetings with blueprints. The 99 Boyfriends of Micah Summers by Adam Sass September 20th Micah runs a popular Instagram account where he posts drawings of his numerous imaginary boyfriends (did I mention there's 99 so far?) But now he's looking for actual love and when his meet cute is cut short on the train, he's determined to return the pumpkin-embroidered jacket his mystery boy left behind. I love that his friends are going to help him out with his quest! This sounds so cute! Seoulmates by Susan Lee September 20th Seoulmates sounds like such a cute read! I mean a girl who reunites with her childhood friend who just happens to be a famous K-drama star? Sign me up! Eternally Yours edited by Patrice Caldwell September 20th I've had this book on my tbr the moment I heard about it 😂. This short story collection features stories all about paranormal creatures. From mermaids, to vampires, to demons, there's a story for each of them and it's all about love! This sounds like a super sweet read that I can't wait to sink my teeth into 😉 (get it? teeth and vampires? 😂). Foul Lady Fortune by Chloe Gong September 27th I've heard so many good things about the These Violent Delights duology. Which is still on my tbr (I know, I know, I need to get to it soon 😂) so I didn't hesitate to add this historical spy mystery to my list. With a main character that cannot die, working with another spy to infiltrate a secret society, it sounds like a great recipe to a fun read. Also, did I mention they have to pretend to be married? Miss Peregrine's Museum of Wonders by Ransom Riggs September 27th I absolutely love all things Miss Peregrine and peculiar! That's why I was excited to see this new guide book talking all about the peculiar world and how to navigate it. I've heard it's a fun read for new and old fans alike! Well, That Was Unexpected by Jesse Q. Sutanto September 27th This book gives me Crazy Rich Asian vibes but if the main couple were actually fake dating. Sharlot is sent away by her mother to Indonesia but what she doesn't know is that her mother has been trying to set her up with George, a boy from one of Indonesia's most wealthy families. What actually happened is that George's father and Sharlot's mother have been pretending to be their children online and have been talking to each other. This sounds like a messy situation that would be great to read about 😂. Secrets So Deep by Ginny Myers Said September 27th I really enjoyed Dark and Shallow Lies by Ginny so I was super excited to hear that she had another book coming out! This book is another paranormal thriller set near the water. I love the idea of solving a cold case and Avril is on a mission to solve the 12 year old case of how her mother drowned. Plus I think it'll be the perfect read to get me in the mood for spooky season! Last of the Talons by Sophie Kim September 27th After the destruction of her Talon gang, Shin Lina is forced to become a living weapon for the kingdom's most feared crime lord. (I'm already hooked, aren't you?) The only thing keeping her from leaving is her little sister who was captured by him. Now she's sent on a mission to steal a priceless tapestry, which actually turns into a mission to kill the young emperor Hangul Rui. If she's going to make it out alive, Lina will have to do everything possible before time runs out, and one way or another she's stealing Rui's heart. I can't wait for all the action in this one! Talk Santa to Me by Linda Urban September 27th Earlier we talked about spooky books for Halloween and now we're looking at Christmas! This rom-com is set in a holiday store and sounds full of Christmas cheer! Especially since our main character is trying to keep the classic Christmas spirit alive in her family's gift shop, and she might need help from the cute boy who works at the tree lot next door! Those are my anticipated releases for September 2022 bookworms! I hope you are as excited for these releases as I am! What are some of your most anticipated September releases? Are any of these books on your tbr? Let me know in the comments below!
