It's Saturday bookworms! I have another review to share with you all! Today I'm reviewing On the Way to Birdland by Frank Morelli. Thank you to the author for sending me an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review! This book comes out on June 8th, this upcoming Tuesday! Let's get started!
Cordell feels trapped in his small southern town. What motivates him is his hero and favourite musician John Coltrane, and his brother Travis. However one night Travis's addiction becomes too much for his family to handle and Travis storms out of the house. When Cordy discovers that his father is ill he sets out on a mission to find Travis and bring him back home. Along the way Cordy meets some interesting people who give him a new perspective on life. What I liked most about On the Way to Birdland was the characters! Especially the ones that Cordy meets on his travels. I enjoyed learning about their lives and how they got to where they are today. I thought Cordy was an interesting main character and he provided a unique insight to his situation. The writing flowed well and was easy to follow as the plot progressed. However I wished that some scenes were more drawn out as they felt to go by a little fast, especially at the end. I also appreciated the settings and numerous places that Cordy went. The constantly changing scenery kept things interesting and held your attention. Overall this was a quick read with lots of interesting characters and travelling! I gave this book 3/5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️. That's a wrap on my review of On the Way to Birdland by Frank Morelli! I hope you enjoyed it! Who are your favourite music artists? Let me know in the comments below!
