Hello bookworms! Today I am coming to you with a blog tour post! I'd like to thank Literary Bound Tours and the author Willow Anderson for choosing me to be a part of this amazing tour! If you would like to follow the tour stops, here is the schedule! I would also like to mention that I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review as part of this book tour. Synopsis Lace Ashburn was only twelve years old when she witnessed a murder behind Pandemonium’s grandeur – a strange, magical traveling show where admittance is hard to gain. With a dead Ringmaster and his murderer in jail, Pandemonium packed up and fled in the middle of the night, remaining missing for five years. When Lace’s older brother steps up to take the throne of Falhaven, he announces not only the return of Pandemonium but an arranged marriage for her with their neighboring country's prince. With less than a week to discover a way to keep her freedom from her fiancé, Lace finds her way back into the heart of Pandemonium. With a new Ringmaster heading Pandemonium, Lace is pulled into a competition run by the strange show with an invaluable prize at the end should she win. Paired together with a mysterious partner, Lace fights through the contest to keep not only her independence but her heart safe. Come one, come all, to the show that will enthrall...welcome to Pandemonium where in order to win, you must lose it all. Release Date: April 27, 2020 Page Count: 360 pages My Review I was thrilled to be chosen to host a stop on this tour, as I have been interested in reading this book since I heard about it! Pandemonium combines two of my favourite aspects in books; a circus, and royalty. Something that stood out the most to me was the uniqueness of this novel. The world building and plot was very creative and it's unlike anything I've read. At some points it gave off an Alice in Wonderland vibe, with otherworldly magic and nonsense which made it very whimsical. Can we also mention this gorgeous cover? I'm happy to say that the beauty of the cover matches the beauty of the content and prose. The writing was entertaining and made for a book that was fast-paced and kept you reading. At many points I had no idea what would happen next, which made for a delightful reading experience. Aside from the interesting plot, the characters were something I also really enjoyed. In Pandemonium, we have a loveable and morally-grey villain which was great! We also have a strong family dynamic between Lace and her sister Victoria. I liked the development of their relationship and felt it was realistic with their highs and lows. The romance in this book was very cute and entertaining, we do have a bit of a love triangle but it was well done in that it wasn't tiring or cliche, but rather engaging. Lace was my favourite character, she's strong, intelligent and determined. She didn't give up when faced with difficult, and sometimes scary situations. She is definitely someone I'd want to be friends with! I am always ready to read a book with a strong female lead, it is something great to see. By the end of the novel I was attached to the characters and their relationships with each other. The only thing that I would change is that at times it became too fast paced, and I would have liked to see some scenes be longer. For anyone wanting a creative, fast-paced mystery/fantasy with loveable characters, this is definitely the book for you! I give this book a 4/5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐. Author Information

Welcome to another review bookworms! I'd first like to thank Sourcebooks Fire and the author Suzanne Park, who gave me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts below are my own honest opinion. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I'm excited to share my thoughts with you! The Perfect Escape is a dual perspective YA contemporary novel. It follows Nate, who comes from a prideful Korean-American household, and who is bribed to commit grade fraud in order to help his family. As well as Kate, a wanna-be actress who is the daughter of a very controlling and powerful tech company leader. Surprisingly, both of them have two things in common, they work at a zombie themed escape room and they need money. Cue a high stakes zombie survival competition, with a grand prize of $50,000, and the pair must work together to achieve both of their goals. As soon as I heard the premise of this book I was hooked. I mean a survival competition, escape rooms and zombies? What's not to love? The writing was fast paced and flowed well, which propelled me through the story. I actually read it in two days! The plot was intriguing and I was engaged throughout. Nate was definitely my favourite character. Being an incredibly smart teenager, who's at the top of his class, Nate is also very sweet and awkward which makes him relatable. I enjoyed learning about Nate's culture and his family dynamic. The representation is also own-voices, which is important as I believe the most accurate representation of culture is created through those that experience it and live it. I also can't speak about Nate's family without mentioning his little sister Lucy, who was adorable! Another aspect I really loved was the contrast of the characters. Nate and Kate are so different from each other, but work so well together. I was smiling the whole time while reading this book, which was so refreshing and is something I always look for. The humour was funny, and being a nerd myself made it even more relatable. The romance was very cute and I have to add, if anyone can find me a Nate please contact me ASAP 😂. I would have loved to see more of their experiences working at an escape room business, as this is something I really enjoy. I also wish this book was a bit longer! I wasn't ready to leave the characters just yet, and wanted to get to know them even more. A cute, quirky and unique YA book. I know for sure I'll be recommending this book to everyone looking for a fluffy and light hearted summer read. I cannot wait to read more of Suzanne Park's work in the future. This book was in fact a perfect escape from quarantine life. My overall rating for this book is 4/5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐. That's a wrap for my review of The Perfect Escape by Suzanne Park. I hope you enjoyed it! Have you ever participated in an escape room? Let me know in the comments below! |
