Hi bookworms and welcome to another review! Today I'll be reviewing Unwritten by Alicia J. Novo! I'd like to thank the author for sending me an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review! This book comes out this Saturday! Now without further ado let's dive in!
Beatrix Alba has always felt at home with books, but she has a hidden power. When the spell that has kept her hidden fails, she is sent to the Zweeshen where all book worlds are real and characters live. But this world is under attack, and a character is burning book worlds to get to a riddle only Beatrix has. As she works with William, a cursed conjurer, Beatrix must navigate a world of witches, magic, Egyptian gods and more, even if she may have to sacrifice everything to save a world that rejects her. When I first read the synopsis I was very excited to read a book about bookish worlds and characters. I loved that aspect of the plot and thought the overall world that encompassed all the other fictional worlds was well done. I really enjoyed seeing famous characters like Elizabeth from Pride and Prejudice and Hercule Poirot appear. I also liked the variety of characters but would have liked to get to know more about them and the stories they came from. At times I would get various characters mixed up because I didn't know much about their personalities. In terms of our main character I found her to be a bit annoying, because of her short temper and stubbornness. Emma was my favourite character because I loved her whimsy and dedication to helping her friends. The setting and descriptions were another element that I enjoyed. The writing definitely painted a picture of a beautiful world. Overall this was a fun and unique story, however I struggled a little with the characters. I gave this book a 3.5/5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️ ✨. That's all for my review of Unwritten! I hope you enjoyed it! What book would you love to live in? Let me know in the comments below!
