Hello and welcome to another review bookworms! Today I'll be reviewing A Good Girl's Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson. Today is also the release day of it's sequel Good Girl, Bad Blood! I had so much fun reading this book so let's get into it!
Everyone in Little Kilton knows about the story of Andie Bell, the girl killed by her boyfriend Sal Singh. And everyone knows he did it, case closed, Except Pippa Fitz-Amobi isn't quite so sure about that... Armed with her inquisitive thinking and love of all things true crime, Pippa makes solving this case her final year project. But it seems that the deeper she gets into the case the more it seems like someone is trying to keep her away from it. How far will Pippa go to uncover the truth? And how far will someone go to keep the past buried? I enjoyed this book so much! First off I loved Pip and her personality. I related to her a lot in that she is incredibly dedicated to school and works constantly, sometimes a little too much. This quote sums that all up, and it really stuck with me! “...I don’t know who I am when I’m not working, when I’m not focused on or totally consumed by a task. Who am I between the projects and the assignments, when there’s nothing to do? I haven’t found her yet and it scares me. Maybe that’s why, for my senior capstone project this year, I decided to solve a murder.” I loved how Pip was very unapologetically herself. Filled with her quotes and facts, and overall nerdiness. I have to say that the plot was very well done. Not one moment was I bored, even during moments that weren't packed with action. I definitely did not see the end coming and there was so many surprises throughout the book. Another element that I really enjoyed was the multi media used to tell the story. Aside from the traditional prose we also had interview transcripts, school forms, maps and more. This really added to the true crime element of the story, and I felt that I was solving the case alongside Pip. We also definitely need to talk about Ravi! I loved his character, he was incredibly funny and supportive and added a lot to the plot. At many points I had to make myself put this book down in order to go about my day. I'm positive that if I had the time, I would have devoured this book in a day or two. I was constantly on the edge of my seat and never knew what was going to happen next. I 100% recommend this book to everyone! This has definitely become a new favourite book of all time! I'm super excited to read the sequel! I gave this book a 5/5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. That's a wrap for my review of A Good Girl's Guide to Murder! I hope you enjoyed it! Do you enjoy true crime stories?
